Primary Care Guidance for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) in women at increased risk of breast cancer (BC)
Detailed report outlining the breast cancer risk of hormone replacement treatment (HRT) when used for menopausal symptoms.
A multidisciplinary expert writing group have produced a comprehensive document explaining the breast cancer risk of hormone replacement treatment (HRT) when used for menopausal symptoms.
They have helpfully stratified the risk into baseline (population risk), moderate and high risk and looked at shorter term (<5years) and longer term (>10 years) use. They also give useful background information about the risk associated with different progesterone preparations.
This document can be used during clinical consultations to help advise patients who are considering using HRT to manage menopausal symptoms.
