National Audit Reports Highlight Opportunities to Improve Breast Cancer Services

The 2026 State of the Nation reports from NAoPri & NAoMe published.

The ABS encourages all breast colleagues to review the recently published 2026 State of the Nation reports from the National Audits of Primary (NAoPri) and Metastatic (NAoMe) Breast Cancer.

Published on 10 September 2026, the reports cover patients diagnosed between 2021 and 2023 and provide valuable insight into how breast cancer services are performing across England and Wales. The reports include links to GIRFT resources, service-level data and interactive dashboards that allow organisations to benchmark their performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

The findings reinforce the importance of using audit data as part of local clinical governance processes. Access to robust evidence is essential to support service development and ensure high-quality care for patients in an increasingly challenging NHS environment.

Members are encouraged to review their organisation's data and discuss findings within local governance and audit meetings.
