World Patient Safety Day 2025
ABS is proud to support World Patient Safety Day 2025.
The ABS is proud to support World Patient Safety Day (WPSD), a World Health Organization initiative that raises awareness and promotes collective action. This year’s theme, 'Safe care for every newborn and every child,' emphasises the importance of ensuring patient safety from the start.
ABS was pleased to contribute to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh's WPSD campaign this year, with an article focusing on the idea that the best care for any newborn or child involves delivering the best care for their mother, particularly when it comes to breast cancer and pregnancy.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer to affect women around the world, with women in low and middle income countries are often diagnosed with breast cancer at a younger age than those in wealthier countries. We want to help expectant mothers understand how important their own health is, so they can stay well and care for their children. Our goal is to find breast cancer earlier, when it’s easier to treat and more likely to lead to a good outcome.
