The Pre-BRA study aims to determine the safety and effectiveness of pre-pectoral implant-based breast reconstruction using different meshes and products.
As this is a new technique, we recognise the need for an expertise based approach. We would therefore like to invite individuals with considerable experience of using specific products to become Mesh Chief Investigators (CIs) for the Pre-BRA study.
The Mesh CI role will include:
- Encouraging other surgeons and centres using ‘their’ mesh to participate in and recruit patients to the Pre-BRA Study
- Mentoring surgeons wanting to start performing the procedure either directly or working with a network of colleagues with appropriate experience
- Membership of the Pre-BRA Steering Group and attendance at steering group meetings
- Defining and refining patient selection criteria for each mesh and determining ‘best practice’ regarding the technique.
We are seeking Mesh CIs for the following products and techniques:
- BRAXON
- TiLOOP
- Strattice
- Artia
- SurgiMend
- Cellis
- Dermal sling

Surgeons interested in participating in the study can also register their centre by e-mail. The first Pre-BRA steering meeting will be held in Birmingham on Monday 3rd July between 2pm - 5pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Potential Mesh CIs will need to be able to attend this meeting.
