Course information

Course Objectives

  • Develop a strong foundation in both fundamental and advanced   ultrasound techniques.
  • Effectively apply intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) in clinical practice.
  • Gain hands-on experience in ultrasound-guided surgical procedures and localisation techniques.
  • Deepen understanding of alternative localisation methods, margin assessment, and complex oncoplastic decision-making.
  • Examine the current debates and challenges surrounding ultrasound use by breast surgeons.

Please note: This course does not provide accreditation for diagnostic ultrasound use. However, it equips participants with the knowledge to utilise ultrasound as a valuable adjunct to surgical practice.

  • Theoretical Lectures: Core principles of ultrasound application in breast cancer surgery, including intraoperative video demonstrations.
  • Practical Workshops: Hands-on training using phantom models and real patient scenarios.
