The National Consultant Information Programme (NCIP) is a free, clinician-led digital platform providing consultants with a single view of their NHS practice, using robust, locally and nationally benchmarked data on activity and outcomes. It supports reflection, appraisal, and continuous improvement by enabling surgeons to review variation, monitor performance, and identify opportunities to enhance patient care.
For breast surgeons, NCIP can support clinical audit, morbidity and mortality review, and quality improvement by offering specialty-relevant insights, benchmarking against peers, and providing evidence for appraisal, revalidation, and clinical development, ultimately helping to improve patient safety and outcomes.
