Abstract submission for the ABS Conference 2026 is open.
With a diverse and engaging programme designed to reflect clinical and research interests for the whole breast multidisciplinary team, we invite you to submit abstracts that showcase new insights, best practices, and forward-thinking approaches in breast care. Whether you are a surgeon, nurse, radiologist, oncologist, or researcher, this is your opportunity to contribute to the conversation, share your work with a global audience, and help shape the future of breast care.
The deadline for submissions is Monday 5 January 2026 at 12pm.
Submit an abstractPlease read the following instructions to authors before submitting your abstract:
- Abstracts can only be submitted using the online abstract system.
- Abstracts must be submitted in English.
- Do not type in capitals in the abstract text. The Association reserves the right to change the formatting of those abstracts submitted to be consistent with the requirements of the Meeting Programme. It cannot be held responsible for any possible loss of meaning incurred as a result.
- Once the abstract deadline has passed, it will not be possible to make alterations to the abstract or list of authors and once you have confirmed your presentation and the abstract text has been submitted to the EJSO for publication it will not be possible to withdraw your abstract.
- Abstracts will be marked anonymously by the Scientific Committee and the author will receive acceptance/rejection notification, and further correspondence as applicable.
- Those authors whose abstracts are accepted must register to attend the conference and pay a registration fee.
- Only papers submitted by trainee grades will be considered for the prize paper session and presenting authors in
this session must be trainee grade. - Medical students may submit an abstract but must be a healthcare professional (FY1) at the time of the conference to attend and present.
- The abstract may include tables (max. 4 tables). Please upload the tables as a word document or editable document file type. It should NOT include graphs or other graphic elements.
- The abstract should be structured with Introduction, Methods, Results and Conclusions. Note: It is not acceptable to state in the abstract that 'conclusions will be discussed' without disclosure of those conclusions.
- The abstract should contain data with associated details of appropriate statistical significance testing and P values. P values alone are not acceptable.
- The authors listed on the abstract have made contribution to at least one of the following fields;
- Conception and design
- Data acquisition
- Data analysis or interpretation
- Drafting of the manuscript
- Critical revision of the manuscript
- Obtaining funding
- Supervision - Where the abstract is an audit project there must be clear indication of the standard against which the audit is conducted. Examples include the standards detailed in ABS and NICE guidelines.
- Where the results of in-vivo studies are included, confirmation of Home Office or equivalent regulatory body approval must be included.
- The abstract should not exceed 250 words. In the case of submissions which include tables or other non-text elements, the overall length of the submission should be approximately equivalent to not more than 250 words.
- The Association endeavours to notify authors of success or failure of submissions as quickly as possible. You will receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your abstract on submission. If you do not receive this confirmation please check your junk mailbox or contact the abs@profileproductions.co.uk.
- Failure to comply with any of the above may result in rejection of your abstract.
- The ABS reserves the right to determine abstract acceptance and presentation format.
Bursaries
ABS is offering a number of bursaries to support attendance at this year’s conference. Please note that any bursary recipient in 2025 is not eligible to apply.
The ABS is offering 5 bursaries to attend the ABS Conference 2026 to candidates from and working principally at Government or Charitable Hospitals/ Clinics in LMI countries (as defined by the World Bank List) and be a resident there at the time of the conference.
The bursaries will be awarded to the best ranking abstracts from appropriate candidates.
The bursaries will give the recipients free registration and up to £500 towards their travel and accommodation expenses to attend the conference. Indicate when submitting an abstract if you wish to be considered for one of these bursaries.
The ABS is offering 10 bursaries to attend the ABS Conference 2026 to the best ranking abstracts submitted by UK or Ireland based ABS Nurse Members (Recipients must be an ABS member by the time of the abstract deadline). The bursaries will give the recipients free registration and up to £200 towards their travel and accommodation expenses to attend the conference. Please indicate when submitting your abstract if you wish to be considered for one of these bursaries.
The ABS is offering 10 bursaries to attend the ABS Conference 2026 to the best ranking abstracts submitted by UK or Ireland Foundation year Doctors. The bursaries will give the recipients free registration and up to £200 towards their travel and accommodation expenses to attend the conference. Candidates must be a healthcare professional to attend the conference. Medical students are eligible to apply if they will be FY1 by 8 June 2026.
Candidates should ensure that they would be available to attend the Conference on 8 – 9 June 2026 in Glasgow if successful.
