Looking Ahead to the ABS Conference 2025

ABS President, Leena Chagla, looks ahead to the ABS Conference 2025.

As President of the ABS, it is my honour to invite you to our upcoming ABS Conference 2025. Each year, our annual conference serves as a cornerstone for education, collaboration, and inspiration for breast care practitioners and this year promises to be no exception.

We have an exciting programme with renowned speakers, cutting-edge research presentations, audits, tips and tricks, video session and group discussions that address the full spectrum of breast care; from AI and improving breast cancer outcomes, to oncoplastic surgery innovations and the latest clinical studies. Whether you’re a consultant, junior trainee, nurse, radiologist, oncologist, pathologist or researcher, there will be something here for you.

This year, our invited lecture will be given by Professor Michael Gnant who brings a wealth of expertise as President of the Austrian Breast & Colorectal Cancer Study Group and co-chair of the renowned St Gallen International Consensus Panel for Early Breast Cancer in Vienna. I am very much looking forward to the insights Professor Gnant will bring.

I am also looking forward to welcoming BAPRAS and the Irish Society of Breast Surgeons to the conference and listening to their interesting sessions. Updates on data submitted, trials and studies as always will form an important part of our programme. It will be nice to bust the myths associated with breast care, and I reckon that will be another popular session.

As well as our regular two-day conference, this year we will be hosting a Global Health Symposium for the first time. Held before the conference begins, we will spend the Sunday afternoon discussing global breast cancer issues and how we can improve global service provision and training, and exchanging ideas with our colleagues from Egypt, India, Jordon, Kenya, Turkey, Zimbabwe, and beyond. I would encourage all of you who are able to please join us, as it promises to be a highly valuable day and fits with our charitable aims.

What makes our annual conferences so special is not just the fantastic speakers and sessions, but the chance to connect and socialise with colleagues from around the world.

A perfect event to do that is at the Annual Dinner, which will be Bollywood themed this year, as we are in Birmingham! Be prepared to bring your brightest outfits and dancing shoes as we will be learning dance moves from the experts, which I am very much looking forward to!

This will be my final ABS Conference as President, so to our returning members: welcome back. Your passion and commitment continue to drive our Association forward. To those joining us for the first time: I encourage you to dive in and take full advantage of everything this conference has to offer.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards,

Leena Chagla
