Yazan Masannat is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon based at Broomfield Hospital in Essex. He has many areas of specialist interest in Breast Cancer Surgery including Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, Breast Reconstruction, and Revision Surgery after breast cancer treatment.

Yazan has more than 80 peer reviewed publications and has been awarded numerous research grants. He is the Simulation Lead at Broomfield Hospital and a visiting Associate Professor at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. He is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary’s University of London, the University of Aberdeen/Scotland and an E-Tutor with the University of East Anglia/England.  

He is the Meetings Secretary and an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Breast Surgery, in addition to being an examiner at the European Board of Surgical Oncology and the European Board of Breast Surgery exams (UEMS). 

Yazan is the creator of www.iBreastBook.com which is a free online resource with contributions from many of the leading Breast and Plastic surgeons across the world. The iBreastBook Webinar series, which started during the covid pandemic has been a huge international success. As a result, Yazan is regularly invited worldwide to lecture and teach on the different Oncoplastic Breast Surgical Techniques.

Dr Anna Kirby is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in the UK specialising in the treatment of patients with breast cancer. She leads research into novel breast radiotherapy techniques at The Royal Marsden and Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London. She was appointed as a Reader at the ICR in 2022. She is Technical Radiotherapy Lead for the UK Breast Proton Trial (PARABLE), Chief Investigator of the UK HeartSpare studies, Chief Clinical Co-ordinator of the IMPORT breast radiotherapy trials, and Breast Lead Investigator on the CORE trial evaluating the role of stereotactic radiotherapy in treating oligometastatic disease. 

Dr Kirby is current President of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) which facilitates radiation oncology research dissemination, education, training, interdisciplinary collaboration, professional support and advocacy across Europe and beyond.

The Royal Derby Hospital

Amit Goyal is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon & Associate Professor at the Royal Derby Hospital, UK. His research is focused on axillary management in breast cancer. He is the Chief Investigator of the largest breast cancer surgical trials addressing the role of axillary treatment in the UK – POSNOC and ATNEC.

Nightingale Breast Cancer Centre, Manchester, UK

Cliona is an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Nightingale Breast Cancer Centre in Manchester, UK. She studied medicine, including a BSc in the History of Medicine, at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, London and University College London. Her surgical training was in London, Bristol, Bournemouth, South Africa and Greater Manchester. She completed a PhD entitled ‘The Role of Procoagulants in Cancer and Chemotherapy Induced Venous Thromboembolism’ at the University of Manchester in 2006.

She delivers and teaches in all forms of oncoplastic breast surgery including reconstruction. At the University of Manchester, she leads the Cancer and Thrombosis Research Group, performing basic, translational and clinical research, investigating the symbiotic relationship between cancer and thrombosis. She also supervises MRes, MD and PhD students.

She is Chief Investigator on the TIP Trial and CHAMPion Study and surgical lead for LORIS, PRIMETIME, POETIC-A and FAST-Forward Boost and is on the Sloane Committee. Cliona leads the Association of Breast Surgery guideline development group for Idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis and is a key member of the International Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis guideline development group for VTE in breast cancer. She is Director of the North West Surgical Trials Centre, and mentors the North West Research Collaborative and North West Breast Research Collaborative. She also chairs the ABS Academic and Research Committee and the Scientific Committee for the Prevent Breast Cancer charity.

In her personal life, she enjoys dressmaking, knitting and endurance sports, having previously completed two Ironmans and the Everest Marathon.

Research interests include prediction of local treatment side-effects (toxicity) in the breast using clinical and molecular markers, population-based studies of breast surgery and reconstruction outcomes, and qualitative exploration of patients’ views of breast cancer treatments and clinical decision-making.  As academic surgical trainee, other leadership roles include Member of the international Radiogenomics Consortium, Member of the Mammary Fold Academic & Research Committee, and co-PI on two national trainee collaborative studies.

University of Oxford

David Dodwell is a senior clinical oncologist working in Oxford Population Health in The University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. He has a 20+-year special interest in the management of breast cancer. He is co-oncology lead for the new national breast cancer audits, is involved in many epidemiological studies in breast cancer and works within The Early Breast Cancer Trialists’ Collaborative Group (EBCTCG).

University of Florence

Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Biomedical Sciences “M. Serio” of the University of Florence (Florence, Italy), Icro Meattini works as Clinical Oncologist since 2011 at the Radiation Oncology Unit of the Oncology Department at the Florence University Hospital, where is responsible for the Outpatient Clinics Unit, Clinical Trials Unit, and leader of the Clinical Oncology Group of the Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
