Mammary Fold External Fellowship Directory
Oncoplastic fellowships continue to be a highly sought-after training pathway for breast surgery trainees. In collaboration with regional centres, we have identified anticipated local fellowship opportunities to help address the gap created by the current discontinuation of TIG fellowship programmes.
This list is not exhaustive, and trainees are encouraged to contact individual units directly, as well as monitor advertised positions on the NHS Jobs website.
Units can add their local fellowship to the directory by completing the form below.
Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT)
This is a unique opportunity to combine oncoplastic training at the Royal Surrey Hospital Breast unit with a 12 month fellowship supported by GIRFT and ABS. The successful candidate will be part of a wider cohort of GIRFT fellows.
You will have weekly/fortnightly supervision meetings with GIRFT’s Academic Content Lead and have direct supervision from GIRFT’s national clinical lead for breast surgery (Tracey Irvine), Professor Tim Briggs (National Director of Clinical Improvement) and the wider GIRFT Academy team. You will have access to national datasets curated by NHS England (including Hospital Episodes Statistics, Out-patients, Emergency Care and Theatres datasets).
You will also be supported with writing peer-reviewed research publications, presentations for conferences and guidelines/recommendations as appropriate.
Applications close 20 May 2026, with interviews held virtually on 3 June.
