Queen’s University

Ms Anna Isaac is a Senior Registrar in Oncoplastic Surgery currently undertaking a PhD at Queen’s University, Belfast. Over a 13 year career Anna has been actively involved in local and national collaborative research, including supervision and training of junior colleagues, and is currently the trainee co-lead of the breast pain ASPIRE project. Having been late to the party with academic surgery Anna is keen to help other trainees get involved earlier in their careers to maximise their interests and potential! 

Mhairi is a surgical trainee in the West of Scotland who recently returned to training after completing an MD in Cancer Sciences at the University of Glasgow. She previously worked with the Surgical Specialty Lead Team in Breast Surgery team and now serves as Social Media Editor for BMJ in Surgery. She has also contributed to a number of national research collaboratives and clinical trial steering groups. Outside of surgical research, Mhairi is a keen runner who enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family.

Fiona is an ST6 Breast Surgery Registrar in the KSS Deanery and a MATTU Clinical Research Fellow at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Surrey. Her research focuses on the feasibility, acceptability, and implementation of artificial intelligence to support cancer multidisciplinary team decision-making.

Fiona completed her pre-clinical studies at the University of St Andrews in 2013 before obtaining her MBBS from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 016. Her academic interests include qualitative research and implementation science.

Georgia is commencing an ACF at ST3 in October 2026 in Exeter, and she is a Mammary Fold Regional Representative as well as on the MFAC. She's keen to foster research skills and opportunities amongst more junior breast trainees, and raise awareness of pathways into surgical academia.

James is currently a general surgery registrar with an interest in breast surgery in the Yorkshire and Humberside deanery. His research interests include human factors and breast surgery. He is currently out of programme doing a PhD at the University of Sheffield on the impact of adverse events and complications on the surgeon and surgical trainee. 

Jaideep Singh Rait is currently an ST8 surgical trainee based in the South East with a specialist interest in oncoplastic breast surgery. During his training, he has undertaken an out-of-programme research period at ST6, completing an MRes focusing on clinical research within triple-negative breast cancer.

Jaideep has a strong interest in collaborative research, innovation and improving outcomes for patients undergoing breast cancer surgery.
