Forthcoming elections Education & Training committee

The Education and Training Committee is looking for a number of new members to improve representation on the committee and also fulfil important remits.  The committee meets 4 times a year (twice on line, twice in person) and committee members are expected to regularly attend meetings and undertake work connected to their role in between times.  The roles currently required are as follows:

  • One Member – the committee is looking for someone to lead their Medical School Champions project.  Therefore it is looking to appoint a member with an interest in/ experience of promoting breast surgery to medical students.
     
  • One SAS Rep – the committee is looking for someone to represent its SAS grade members on the committee.  The committee’s remit includes supporting the educational and training needs of this group and this member will play a key role in identifying these and supporting this group.
     
  • One Allied Health Professional Rep – The ABS’ membership is expanding and this committee is keen to support the education and training needs of its Allied Health Professional members.  This is a new role and the appointed individual will be required to work with the committee to review what requirements this group have.

Where it is not specified members of any grade can apply for these posts, although they must be able to attend at least two committee meetings per year and be available to attend face to face meetings.  Associate, affiliate and nurse members may apply for these roles, but should note that there are trainee and nursing reps on the Education & Training Committee .

Application process:

Members wishing to apply for these roles should send a letter by e-mail to lucydavies@absgbi.org.uk by the 3rd October 2022 at 9am naming the role they are applying for and stating the relevant experience they have to fulfil the role.  A short (3 page maximum) CV can be included for reference.  There are no elections for committee membership but selection will be made by the committee members and chairs on the merit of the applications and the needs/ composition of the committees at the time.  All committee posts are approved by the Executive Board.
