Programme
It is a great pleasure once again to invite you to the 10th Royal Marsden Pain and Opioid Conference. This follows on from last year’s very successful event organised as part of the 4th Global Conference on Perioperative Care of the Cancer Patient.
Opioids still form the mainstay of many types of pain for both cancer and non-malignant pains. Although there is evidence for their effect, opioids also are associated with significant side effects in the short and long term. This day will examine these varied aspects of opioids from targeting multiple receptors to a detailed examination of adverse gastrointestinal effects. We will also hear up to date reviews on opioids for non-malignant pain, addiction, the use of opioids at end of life and in paediatric practice from experts in these fields. The programme aims to update practitioners with useful and informative facts that will keep their opioid knowledge fresh and contemporaneous.
