This state-of-the-art course offers the opportunity to learn about current evidence and emerging developments in breast surgery and surgical oncology. This includes breast diagnostics, controversies in treatment, commonly seen benign breast conditions and multidisciplinary team working.
The course is aimed at senior breast trainees (ST6-8), advanced practitioners, newly appointed Consultants, SAS grades and clinicians with a background in either breast or plastic surgery. Delegates will benefit from interactive lectures delivered by leading experts in their field and lively discussions based on real-life scenarios and MDT case group discussion sessions. The course is mapped to the ISCP syllabus and is excellent preparation for the CCT examination.

Professor John Benson is a Consultant Breast Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK. He qualified from Oxford University Clinical School and was awarded doctorates from Oxford and Cambridge Universities (DM (Oxon); MD (Cantab)). He received specialist training at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research, London and The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Centre, New York. Professor Benson is a Fellow and Director of Clinical Studies at Selwyn College, Cambridge and Visiting Professor at the School of Medicine, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK. He is an examiner for the MRCS examination, a member of the British Breast Group and the Executive Board of the Association of Breast Surgery (Ordinary Trustee). Professor Benson has more than 120 published articles in leading journals including The Lancet, Lancet Oncology and The British Journal of Surgery and written numerous book chapters and several books in the field of breast diseases. He is a former member of the Planning Committee for the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (2013 – 2015) and a current member of the peer review team for the ASCO guidelines on breast cancer management.
Ramsey Cutress has led the Advanced Management of Breast Disease Course as Director since 2014. The course was based at The Royal College of Surgeons of England prior to transfer to ABS in 2019 when it successfully ran in the fantastic setting of Selwyn College Cambridge. Ramsey has been a member of the ABS Education and Training Committee and served as faculty on the Oncoplastic MSc and Oncoplastic Course Level 2. He has been a member of the writing groups of the ABS/BAPRAS Oncoplastic Guidelines and the NICE NG101 Early and Locally Advance Breast Cancer Committee and is Breast Surgery Editor for the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons. He currently supervises several MD and PhD’s and acts as external examiner for a number of Universities. In Southampton he is University lead for the Wessex Academic Foundation programme.
