Lauren Sutherland KC called to the bar in 1996 and took silk in 2016. Prior to calling to the Bar she was a Solicitor in private practice specialising in Personal Injury and Medical Negligence work. As a Solicitor she worked for both claimants and defending claims. Since calling to the Bar she has specialised in Clinical and Professional Negligence, Fatal Accident Inquiries, Personal Injury and Human Rights issues in Medical Law. In 2020 Lauren gained CEDR accreditation as a mediator.

Professor Philip Drew Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust
Professor Drew qualified at St Mary’s Hospital, part of Imperial College, London, in 1990. In addition to the basic MBBS degrees he holds two higher medical degrees with both a Master of Surgery and Doctor of Medicine with Honours. He has published several books and over 100 scientific articles with his main interests being in the molecular biology of breast cancer, reconstructive breast surgery, aesthetic breast surgery, transgender breast surgery and gynaecomastia. He is regularly invited to lecture on breast issues both nationally and internationally.

Miss Penelope McManus Royal Lancaster Infirmary
Penny McManus has been a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon since 2004. She trained in Liverpool, the South-East and the West Midlands before taking up her consultant post in Hull. She relocated to Morecambe Bay in 2018. Her NHS work consists mostly of the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast cancer, and breast reconstruction following surgery for breast cancer. In the private sector she also does cosmetic breast surgery. She has been involved in developing the new RCS England guidelines for cosmetic surgery and has published and presented her work on fat transfer both in the UK and internationally. She receives referrals from across the UK for fat transfer and for revision of reconstruction after mastectomy. She teaches on a Royal College reconstruction course for consultants and senior trainees.

Miss Rachel O’Connell is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden. She specialises in oncoplastic breast surgery, combining the removal of breast cancers with plastic surgery, with the aim of achieving the best cosmetic appearance following treatment. Rachel works in collaboration with plastic surgeons at The Royal Marsden to provide the full range of reconstructive options
