Dear Mammary Fold members,
It was a privilege to take over as the Mammary Fold Chair this week in Belfast. We are delighted that shortly we will be officially linked to the ABS with the Mammary Fold membership converting to an associate ABS membership. This will give us huge benefits in terms of support, training, resources and a wealth of experience from their committee. I encourage you all to sign up to be able to benefit from this.
Our website has already been incorporated within the ABS website and provides valuable educational content and up-to-date information regarding meetings, courses, and job opportunities. Via the 13 regional representatives, the Mammary Fold co-ordinates and provides regional educational events that are targeted for clinicians with a subspecialty interest in breast surgery. This is further complimented by the annual Mammary Fold pre-ABS national educational event which continues to be a huge success, with high attendance from our membership.
The Mammary Fold Academic and Research Collaborative (MFAC) continues to provide opportunities for our members to engage in research with an expanding portfolio of national collaborative trainee-led breast research studies. We also encourage our members with new research study proposals to contact the MFAC committee with a view to developing and supporting the proposals.
There are ongoing changes and challenges with our training in oncoplastic breast surgery and emergency general surgery. We would encourage all membership to engage with us in order to help and inform us as we aim to represent the best interests of all breast and plastic trainees.
We are grateful for the continual support from our membership and I, along with our committee, am dedicated to supporting you all, and welcome your views and ideas in order to continue developing the Mammary Fold for the benefit of the membership.
