Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer Symposium

The UK's first Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer Symposium will take place in January 2018!

Manchester CentralAbout

In 2018 the Association of Breast Surgery is supporting an important new initiative in breast care, the re-establishment of a truly multidisciplinary breast cancer meeting in the UK.

The first UK Interdisciplinary Breast Cancer Symposium will be held at the Manchester Central Conference Centre on 15th and 16th January 2018. This will replace the usual ABS MDT Meeting in January 2018 and it is anticipated that this will become a biennial event.

The two day meeting is hosted by Breast Cancer Now but supported by all of the key disciplinary groups in breast care: the British Society of Breast Radiologists, the Royal College of Pathologists, the UK Breast Cancer Group (Oncology), the British Breast Group, the NCRI Breast Cancer Clinical Studies Group as well as the leading basic scientists involved in breast cancer research and development. A number of other groups have also cancelled their planned meetings to support this new development.

Programme

The meeting programme covers a wide range of topics including ductal carcinoma in situ, neoadjuvant therapy, measuring and managing breast cancer risk, triple negative and lobular breast cancer, challenges of local management and key nursing issues. The speakers include many leaders in their field from the UK, Europe and North America. You can download a copy of the provisional programme here.

Abstract Submission

The meeting will include oral and poster presentations from accepted submitted abstracts. Abstract submission is now open and the closing date is Monday 25th September 2017; accepted abstracts will be published in the Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Journal.
