EBSQ Examination in Breast Surgery
The EBSQ (European Board of Surgery Qualification) was first offered in 2010 and remains the only specialist breast qualification available in the world. It is provided once or twice a year under the direction of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) board of surgery.
The EBSQ sets a clear standard of knowledge and consists of MCQs, oral case based discussions and critical appraisal of a recent breast publication. The MCQs must be passed in order to progress to the orals.
UK breast trainees are well prepared to meet the curriculum requirements and exam standard. Breast trainees/ new consultants are strongly encouraged to obtain the qualification as it may be useful in the longer term to hold a European breast surgery 'diploma' or creditential.
